About Us

My photo
Shawn and I were married 19 years ago. Since then we have had three great children: Elias is 17, Dalton is 15, and Megan is 12. They are our lives. We go to a lot of football and basketball games and dance reviews but, we love it and wouldn't change our lives for the world. I've started this blog so that family and friends can see what's going on in the Brooks family. So enjoy...

Blogging

Well, I have been on Facebook for almost a year and during the last week I realized how awesome a blog can be. I went to Relief Society Night and Tenille Blackett had a book she compiled with all her blog posts and pictures. I realized it was an awesome way to journal life and keep a family history. Facebook is fun. It allows you to see what people are doing on a day-to-day basis but, after all is said and done, I've spent my time on something not very productive. So, I am going to make a new goal to write on my blog at least two times a week. I figure I make the time for Facebook why not make time for my own blog. At the end of the year I'm going to make my own book. I am really pretty excited about it.

So, life has been very hectic (as usual). Work is still very good and I love it. We took the kids to Disneyland for Christmas which was the best. We flew down on Christmas night. We spent Saturday walking on the Hollywood walk of fame and seeing the Hollywood area. On Sunday we relaxed and went to visit my aunt Janice and uncle Kelly and their kids. It is always so good to see them. Monday and Tuesday we went to Disneyland and it was so busy! Both days the park was so full it was closed to more guests. The kids had such a great time. Elias sprained his MCL in wrestling and so we rented him a wheelchair. This got us access to the front of every line which made the Disneyland experience so sweet. When others were waiting in line for over an hour we just went past them and waited, at the most, 20 minutes. Good times. The boys and their dad got kicked off of Tower or Terror. That is a great story and will probably be in the Brooks' legends forever. We went to the beach on Wednesday. It was rainy and cold but the view was still pretty. We couldn't see for miles but we could still see the waves breaking. Thursday we flew home. The kids had a great time and so did we.

Facebook

Well, I have now started to use Facebook... to the point of not blogging. Life has been good. Football is in full swing, in fact, it is almost over. School is back in. I began teaching for my second year and it is a little different than the first but, it is still awesome. The summer was great. I did get a lot done... the yard looks fabulous, I remodeled my bedroom, and had a blast with my kids. I'll try to blog more... but I can't make any promises.

April's Post

So, my daughter just turned 12 yesterday.  Since she is my youngest I am feeling so old.  She is growing up way too fast.  We just had a party with the McClure family today and it was so fun.  We celebrated Megan's and Sam's birthdays.
Last weekend for Spring Break we took the kids to Las Vegas.  It was so nice to relax and get rejuvenated.  I honestly did not want to come home; our hotel was so nice and we didn't have an itinerary we were rushing to get done.  It's so great to just hang out with the kids and make fun memories.

Where did the time go?

Well, here it is February and I haven't written in quite a while!!  Life has been very busy (as usual).  Dalton recently made the 8th grade basketball team.  He loves it.  One game last week he drained 5 three-pointers and had a ton of rebounds.  He is quite the scrapper.  Elias got his drivers license this week.  Boy, it is a strange feeling to know that I have a child old enough to drive!  But, it is handy.  He has picked up his brother from practice, gone to the store for me and taken himself to his friend's house.  THAT is awesome!! Megan is counting down until she goes into young women's in April.  Her friend just turned 12 and is already going, Megan is so bummed.  Shawn and I went out for Valentines last night and we were realizing that next school year we will have no children in elementary school!  And, if Megan moves out after high school, we have six years until we are empty nesters.  That seems so unbelievable. I just have to say that I have the best kids on the planet.  They are really good kids who try to do what is right.  They are getting along so well right now and it make Shawn and I so pleased to watch them talking and playing together.  I am such a blessed person.  I don't know what I have done to deserve the blessings I have in my life but, I will be forever grateful and continue to thank God each day for His love and mercy in my life.

Merry Christmas!!

I know it's been a while since I posted last.  I have been extremely busy with classes.  I am really looking forward to the Christmas break.  I will still have lesson plans to write but, at least I can sleep in, wear my pj's all day, play with my kids, read a book, and take a nap if I feel like it.  I know, I know, that is a lot to fit in one week, but I think I can manage.  The family is doing great--not much to report.  Oh, we did shop on Black Thursday with the kids.  They all chose ski and snowboarding gear for Christmas.  It was fun but I think I will miss them opening presents on Christmas morning.  I may be a while before I post so don't freak out--I'll get to it sooner or later. TTYL.
